    the catch up

After finishing my round up post yesterday, I checked my handy dandy spreadsheet of dramas and realized that not only have I finished a measly THREE dramas this year (it is July), I also have a lot that I have left unfinished.

    Like, a lot.

    • Totsuzen desu ga, Ashita Kekkon Shimasu (3/10)
    • Okaasan, Musume wo Yamete Ii desu ka? (04/08)
    • Okusama wa, Toriatsukai Chuui (04/10)
    • Samurai Gourmet (10/12)
    • Hito wa Mita Me ga 100% (03/12)
    • Anone (02??/10)
    • Kangoku no Ohimesama (01/10)
    • Misty (06/16)

    Mess.

Although I’m pretty invested in Life on Mars at the moment and nothing will stop me from starting Jo Seung-woo and Lee Dong-wook’s newest drama, I want to finish these by next month. I think that’s pretty doable… see you in the next summer roundup then, ahahah.

LOL I love these gossiping surgeons. They don’t have much to do, but they bring light to this drama. #THANKFUL

RE: Boku no Yabai Tsuma 7

Third drama with this guy (still don’t know his name). First times were Dakara Koya and Tamiou (Kaibara-kun)!

Anyway, this drama is so damn messy lol

  • Cheese in da TRAP

    Cheese in da TRAP

I think I’m going to drop this show, and not because I’m a Yoo Jung apologist, but because I really do feel bad for Park Haejin and I’m KIND OF a purist when it comes to adapations.

No, something I respect about the webtoon was that Inho kept a respectful distance while being so friendly and cute with the fam, and Seol obviously valued their friendship!!! But now it’s Cantabile in the Trap and that’s a shame considering how rich the source material is.

    That damn ointment…

I don’t like the idea of inserting a loveline where it doesn’t need to be (and that includes shipping, which I’m normally OK with, but Signal seems SO not the show for this). That said…

Cha Soo-hyun’s affection for her beloved sunbae makes me want to cry 😫😫😫 I love her so much! I JUST WANT HER TO BE HAPPY… and I want her to have all the things. I mean ffs, she goes to the coroner every week just to see if his body turns up… my heart… ow

    RE: Signal 2.3

This transferring of team members to a meaningless department to placate public outcry about something or other is SO jdrama esque but I love it. I love it a lot

Although. I will be the first to admit: “Your body belongs to me so you can’t say no.” I just…………… (LOUD RECORD SCRATCH NOISE TEARING ACROSS THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE)

Nip that line in the bud, writers. Nip it!

    RE: Oh My Venus 1-4

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the first time Jung Kyeo-woon is not playing a total assface.* Like most people, I was afraid he’d be rehashing his character from Birth of a Beauty, but ‘tis not so. Unfortunately, Oh My Venus is not completely exciting and didn’t capture my heart the way I wanted to, which is bad news because I sense a mean angsty streak coming up and I’m not even loving the good times. I also want Shin Mina’s character to stop being saved. FOOL ME ONCE. FOOL ME TWICE. FOOL ME TH—just kidding, this is annoying, I don’t care!

Speaking of other Korean dramas: VERY THANKFUL that Answer Me 1988 is delaying their broadcast a week because it’s the perfect opportunity for me to catch up before the finale! Have not yet started Six Flying Dragons, but I feel like it’s a drama to watch not on my modest monitor, but on something a little more substantial…

Anyway, not really loving Bubblegum anymore. Not bad by any means. I’m just unimpressed. My soul died a little when both Haeng-ah and Ri-hwan cried at the end of episode 10. Such angst!

    * to be fair, I’ve only seen History of a Salaryman, Birth of a Beauty, and this.

    RE: Gisou no Fuufu 5

    And I’m still watching this.
For a romantic comedy (lies), it’s sad. And not in melo way, but more like… ouch. Hah.

You can see the love in Hiro’s eyes when she thinks about the old days and the night of her life (which I’m assuming is the night the then-dating couple became intimate, thx dinner party exposition). Then when she’s finally ready to confess her true feelings to Chouji/reciprocation be damned … he takes that as his cue to confess to delivery guy Tamotsu. 💔💔💔 That heartbreak though. I felt that!
