    Summer ’18, Part 2

    RE: my viewing habits—

Despite feeling pleased with the quality of dramas I saw last year, I was pretty discouraged when I saw that my yearly drama count went from 34 to only 19. I haven’t been watching much lately, so I thought maybe I was becoming picky or there just wasn’t much to watch.

Looking at what I finished, I know that isn’t the case. 2017 had a lot of good dramas I missed! And looking back at my yearly roundup posts, I realized something very important… I’ve always watched dramas less dramas during school. The only time I really ramped up my viewing habits was when I was on a school break, like now.

For k-dramas I do generally prefer to watch live/normally because the series/episodes are way too long for me to ever want to watch otherwise. Seriously, when’s the last time I ever watched an OLDER k-drama? There’s a reason why I still haven’t finished Misty! J-dramas are short, sweet, and easy to finish within a day or two. So I actually think it’s better for me to wait until an extended break for me to watch whatever I want rather than feeling overwhelmed and ultimately discouraged when I end up dropping everything and watching nothing, lol.

    Day 15: Favorite Dialogue

I usually watched “Strawberry Night” (Fuji TV / 2012) episodes in pairs since they had a tendency to extend cases beyond an episode. Because it was so late in the game I thought that the episode in question (9) would be a shorter case, but this ended up being another two-part tale! It was also better than average, and helped me gain insight into two things: I wanted to know what was going on with Himekawa Reiko and Kikuta (puppy dog prince Nishijima Hidetoshi), because anyone with eyes could tell that there was SOMETHING there. When I watched this in April 2012, I hadn’t watched the prequel, so I also wanted to know more about Himekawa’s relationship with her parents and how she had been coping with her assault since… and boy did this episode deliver. Day 1: Favorite Miniseries or Special

Note: This is a blog series I’ve been wanting to start for a while after seeing it somewhere on Tumblr, so here’s my modified take on it! I haven’t talked about dramas in a while, either — it’s go big or go home, amirite?

Infernal Affairs was the DVD on my friend’s bookshelf that I had always wanted to watch, but never really got around to. There wasn’t any specific reason I had for wanting to watch it, aside from a solid recommendation and being impressed with the accolades it had collected (Leonardo DiCaprio featuring in the American remake was a nice touch, too). That said, I had no idea what I was getting into when I decided to watch the 2012 Japanese remake, “Double Face”. I had no idea that I was about to get taken to a dreamworld of tragic.
