As some of you may have seen from my Twitter, I was at PAX this past weekend! Spoiler: it was awesome. I was only away for 3 days, but I was surprised by how many drama episodes I was able to squeeze in…

RE: Boku no Yabai Tsuma 7
Third drama with this guy (still don’t know his name). First times were Dakara Koya and Tamiou (Kaibara-kun)!
Anyway, this drama is so damn messy lol

Spring ’16, Part 2
The future is ✨ BRIGHT ✨, my friends! I decided to “pass/fail” (so to speak) some dramas, but ended up passing most of them. I love having so many Japanese dramas to watch!

Winter ’16, Part 2
Always feels nice to watch a Japanese drama, especially since it’s so easy to watch Korean ones so regularly — I say this all the time. As usual, I’m not watching very many and I’m watching them intermittently due to availability and what not…

A year in dramas (2015).
Instead of doing some mega essay about why so-and-so was my favorite in such-and-such category, I’m just gonna share highlights. It ended up being 1500+ words anyway. Here’s what I saw:

New record! And that’s even after taking a mini-break after Oh My Ghostess. Yes, it’s a lot. I’m not a college student anymore (for now anyway), and it’s easy to unwind by watching a drama episode or two after work. I usually watch a few at once and finish them around the same time (usually j-dramas because they’re on the same schedule, even though they’re subbed slower). That’s all there is to it!
Now onto this year in dramas:

RE: Gisou no Fuufu 5
And I’m still watching this.
For a romantic comedy (lies), it’s sad. And not in melo way, but more like… ouch. Hah.You can see the love in Hiro’s eyes when she thinks about the old days and the night of her life (which I’m assuming is the night the then-dating couple became intimate, thx dinner party exposition). Then when she’s finally ready to confess her true feelings to Chouji/reciprocation be damned … he takes that as his cue to confess to delivery guy Tamotsu. 💔💔💔 That heartbreak though. I felt that!

Summer ’15
Amazing things: I’ve watched 19 dramas so far this year! I usually end up finishing dramas within weeks of each other rather than endless marathon sessions, feels like a lot though. (more…)

Spring ’15
Sometimes I wonder how many dramas is too many dramas… and then I watch more. Ha! This is more like a mid-season review, but it’s all Gucci! (more…)

Kageri Yuku Natsu (fin.)
Rather than waiting to collect all my thoughts about the dramas I’m watching in one post, I’m going to try and post about them semi-indiscriminately. I always end up waiting until I’ve watched just enough episodes to make a post, but by then my thoughts are already outdated! And so the endless list of drafts grows longer…
Anyway, Kageri Yuku Natsu (WOWOW / 2015) deftly unseated a couple of my personal favorites for best directing. It is SO stunning. (more…)
