I’m so glad I waited until I could dedicate some time to play this game. I last tried to start it in in April 2022, but couldn’t make it past the first case for some reason. Well, I know the reason. Tutorial cases are a slog! I ended up getting just past where I stopped last time, and it gets so much better after that.

I may not be the biggest Persona fan… but I’m still a big fan! I happened to be going to Osaka when I first saw the announcement on Siliconera, so I had to do whatever I could do go, even if it meant going immediately after spending most of my morning in another city. It was a looooong day, lol. I think the way it worked was that you had to get tickets the day of, so that morning I went to a Lawson convenience store and bought my ticket there. I wanted to get the limited edition goods, so I went for the more expensive option (~$30).

I’ve hit a drama slump, which sucks… the last drama I finished was Unnatural (loved it). However, I have been filling the void with video games and I’m not too upset about it.
My new favorite Fire Emblem game! Even over Fates! As far as gameplay goes, there wasn’t a lot that was different from its successor but I have to say the story was so much better. I didn’t find the narrative flimsy (look at that — it could all be explained in one game!) and the time-traveling babies mechanic made sense. Mostly! And as usual, the support system was top tier for me. I think I just liked the idea of a peace-seeking militia with all of these interesting characters… and there were so many of them! Even the newest acquisitions to the team were so, so good. (more…)
As you might have noticed from my livetweets (follow me: @spacelovesdisco), I’m playing P5 again. The plan is to beat it this week so I can finally move on with my life!!! I haven’t played it since last July and I thought I would have a really hard time getting back into it, especially since I’m in the palace from hell (the spaceport was supposed to be the hard one, but this is just NEXT LEVEL), but I’m doing much better than expected… except for that time I got lost as a mouse and spent an hour retracing my steps 🙃
Last night I managed to get 4/5 letters I was supposed to get in order to reach the boss/treasure. Unbeknownst to me (and this is what happens what you don’t play a game for 6 months lol), that was my first trip to the palace! NICE. If not for the fact that Akira was running low on SP, I would have pressed onward for the 5th. Also maxed out Futaba’s social link, which means I’m officially done with the confidants in my party! Now to make Iwai love me. LMAO

The Final Fantasy series turned 30 last week, and earlier this month I flew to Toronto to attend the Distant Worlds concert! I was originally supposed to go to the Chicago show in the fall, but I spent too much money in New York this summer and had to cancel. Fortunately my friend and I were still able to find tickets to this show.
There are a lot of games in this series that I haven’t played (basically anything that isn’t IV, X, XII, or XV lol…), and since I’m sipping the Final Fantasy Kool-Aid again, I really want to play those classics. Luckily for me, Steam has all of them on sale for 50% off! I’ll keep y’all posted on how that goes, lmao. (more…)
The rigors of school are finally getting to me, so I haven’t been able to do much outside of playing Fire Emblem Heroes and enjoying that #babydolphin life. Speaking of which: this was also such a terrible time to go from 50% F2P to 100% F2P. IS hit us with that surprise Tempest Trials/Ayra banner and I don’t have any orbs, money, or patience to roll on it after the hell that was the Performance Banner. :\ Anyway.
Against my better judgement, I started Fire Emblem Awakening on Thursday and I’m already into it. Yes, I should have started Echoes instead, but the heart wants what it wants and right now it wants to marry Robin to Frederick. I almost picked mRobin since my last avatar in Fates was a girl, but I couldn’t resist that sideswept lewk!
Three days a whole weekend of being sick later, I’m now on chapter 12 or 13 and I suspect that I’m halfway through the game. I’ve hit the point where I’m now agonizing over who to pair Eligible Bachelor No. 1 Lon’qu with. SO MANY OPTIONS.
(As for Persona 5, let’s not act like it won’t take me 5 years to beat that game. Just kidding…)
