Autumn ’16, Part 1

TOTAL DRAMAS WATCHED: 21

I just barely passed this amount in last year’s fall roundup, and that was in November! What can I say, weekend marathons are my specialty. Now onto the state of things…

Currently

Moonlight Drawn By Clouds / I am still watching this. In some ways I feel like it’s lost a bit of that shine and I’m not sure why. It’s still very good and does everything right. I used to dreeeeeaaaaaaaaaad finishing episodes for the week and having to wait until Monday-Tuesday. Almost every Korean drama has an angst-ridden midpoint, and it’s not like MDBC’s is particularly bad… it could be that I’ve lost some interest. I will say that while I love Yoo Yeo-jung and Park Bo-gum (and their characters being SO! CUTE! TOGETHER!!!), I don’t know how many times I can watch them look at each other all moon eyed, lol. We get it! — Episode 12

Nietzsche-sensei / A winter 2016 drama from the writer of the Yuusha Yoshihiko series. (I guess you could say I’m trying to prepare myself for the upcoming sequel by getting used to his writing!) It’s a drama about convenience store employees, and one employee in particular is very… Nietzsche-like. The real comedy doesn’t come from the writing or acting ability of the cast, but the pure fact that they are trying SO hard not to break character. I thought it’d be annoying after a few times, but it’s actually really endearing! Especially when you have a veteran (Sato Jiro) who is an ad-lib master. (see: episode 3 and the slap hahaha “don’t ‘gyehehehe’ me!” lmfao) — Episode 5

2016-fall1a

Completed

I should really start keeping better track of what I finished and when, haha. Since last post I finally completed Fragile (Nagase Tomoya is hot as fuq, what’s new) and got started on things I’d missed out on like Page Turner (drama special), ON, Seirei no Moribito, and Totto Terebi. For such a short series, Totto Terebi was so incredibly charming! Towards the end it felt like a dedication to all the people who shaped Kuroyanagi Tetsuko and left before her. It also made me really emotional lmfao and I’ll always remember this: “a farewell is sad, but a departure is happy!”

Considering

Sometimes I watch the last few minutes of Ishi no Mayu again because of the “fight” scene between Kisaragi Toko and Ptolemy. It was so good. And that beautiful ending theme… it’s a shame I could never find the soundtrack. Ishi no Mayu solidified my love for Kimura Fumino, and she was just in Seirei no Moribito which has me wanting to see more of her stuff. (Sadly, her most recent drama hasn’t been picked up yet.) So I start looking at upcoming dramas for this season… she’s in another one, GREAT! Aoki Munetaka’s in it, too? Pinch me!! Then I go to the website… detective drama… looks like Ishi no Mayu… oh? OH!?!?!?!? IT’S A SEQUEL. #BLESSED

So yes, I’m definitely watching that. And because I can NEVER! GET ENOUGH! of detective dramas (especially if they’re on WOWOW), I will also (hopefully) be watching the Japanese remake of Cold Case, which is another CBS remake.
