Summer ’16, Part 2

As some of you may have seen from my Twitter, I was at PAX this past weekend! Spoiler: it was awesome. I was only away for 3 days, but I was surprised by how many drama episodes I was able to squeeze in…

Currently

Moonlight Drawn By Clouds / This show is absolute crap. For starters, it’s so dour and unfunny for something that’s supposed to be based off of (what I know to be) a heart-fluttering webtoon/novel. The directing is among the worst I’ve ever seen in any drama, and I’m really sure how I managed to watch aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllll the episodes in just a few short days. And since we’re on the topic of things that are hard to look at, Kim Yoo-jung? Park Bo-gum? The guy from that group named after paper? NO THANKS. Their acting is as subtle as a brick. Plus Kwak Dong-yeon’s mane of glory is shameful to behold. Give the guy some Vidal Sassoon! This show sucks, 10/10 do not recommend, it will ruin your life and give you nightmares.

jk I SUPER LOVE THIS DRAMA. I was sold by the first (2) episodes and was so excited to come back home and catch up. EVERY episode makes me so giddy! Also this: “I won’t allow it. He’s my person.” AAAAAAAAAAHHHH be still, my heart. — Episode 5.

Good Partner / I gave this show a “pass” in my spring post, and I was able to squeeze in (3) episodes on a long, delayed flight back home. I’m still really liking it a lot (the comedy makes me smile!), but I wish they gave Matsuyuki Yasuko a little bit more to do. — Episode 4

Finished

After finishing all but a few dramas from spring, I got really fixated on Fujiki Naohito and decided to watch Love Revolution, which is an oldie getsu9 from the early 00s. EASILY one of most iconic roles. Then it turned into a mini-marathon and I wrapped it up with Slow Dance. Out of all the getsu9 I’ve watched, this one was the most lowkey and introspective… very slice-of-life/summery. Having Satoshi Tsumabuki and Fukatsu Eri star didn’t hurt either!

I finished The Good Wife on my trip — watched two episodes before AND after landing, lol. I can’t help but feel that it just… ended. Not that it was lacking in drama or anything (Hyekyung versus Taejoon, LORDDDDDDDDDDDD), I just wanted more — more time for Kim Dan, for Myung-hee, for Junho… even Park Do-sub (LOVE THAT GUY). Despite the fact that I would have been perfectly satisfied with 20-24 episodes, the Good Wife was a solid drama and a shining example of a remake! Plus Joongwon. Firmly in the Joongwon camp now. Haha.

Considering

My queue is massive and I haven’t started a single (new) Japanese drama this summer. I swear I’ll get there! As far as what I’m considering there isn’t much except Yuusha Yoshihiko to Michibikareshi 7-nin. 4 years after the sequel they’re back with another installment and I am READY.
